We are once again quickly approaching the new school year and I am so excited for it to begin. For me, the 1st day of school is my favorite day of the year. I look forward to seeing each child, the smiles on their faces, and the anticipation of all the new learning that will take place in the upcoming school year. I love to see how each child has grown up and move one step closer to becoming independent, responsible, well-educated, and caring students. Each one is unique and we look forward to embracing them all as they walk through the doors on that first day.

This year is particularly exciting because we are looking to extend our STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Art, and Math) offerings by getting ready to start a capital campaign project to develop and install a floating greenhouse and aquaponics center. In the green house dome students will plant and grow organic strawberries and grow fish to support the self-contained ecosystem. Further, they will develop a business plan to harvest and sell the strawberries to the community and take the profits to help develop other aquaponics centers in third world countries. This will be built on the school pond and will allow students to study and learn about self –sustaining ecosystems, fish ecology, and how to develop a business plan. I hope you will plan to help support this initiative in the coming weeks and months to make this a reality for our students and community!

I hope everyone has had a great summer and look forward to seeing all of our students and parents for our Open House on Wednesday, August 2nd from 4-6pm, and then on the first day of school on Thursday, August 3!

Best regards,

Mr. Jeremy Roerdink Ed.S
